English football quickly shifts focus

The country of England woke up with huge hangover this morning. Not from drinking too much, but from the loss against France last night. The collective dream of winning the World Cup final and bringing football home can in the bin for at least four more years. Unlike a normal World Cup loss, there isn’t much time to mourn this year. It’s only a week until the final but at the same time, we’re also just 9 days away before English football starts again. On the 20th of this month, the Carabao Cup round of 16 starts. 6 days later the Premier League is back with Boxing Day football.

Carabao Cup round of 16

The Carabao Cup round of 16 is going to be a very interesting one. 10 out of 16 remaining teams are from the Premier League. Two of the best Premier League teams in recent history (Manchester City and Liverpool) are playing against each other. This opens the draw for other teams. Manchester United is the only other big 6 team left in the tournament. Newcastle United is currently the second highest ranked Premier League team still left in the tournament. The winner of Man City v Liverpool is considered as one of the favourites together with Man United and Newcastle United.

Boxing Day

Boxing Day is always a special day in English football. This day will start with Brentford versus Tottenham and end with Arsenal versus West Ham United. The last match is immediately the most interesting one on Boxing Day. Arsenal leads the league with a 5 points gap over Man City. The Gunner will miss main striker Gabriel Jesus due to a longterm injury. Is the team ready to fill this void? Book your Arsenal v West Ham United tickets and watch this match live at Emirates.
