2021-2022 Champions League quarter final draw

The Champions League is heading towards the most exciting part of the tournament. With only eight teams left, it’s time for the quarter finals. Today was the draw for the quarter finals, where three English teams where part off. Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool are all still dreaming of winning the Champions League final at the end of this season. In this article we talk about all four quarter finals.

Real Madrid versus Chelsea

The Blues from London reached the Champions League quarter final after beating Lille over two legs. Chelsea never was really in trouble against Lille. Now they face a much harder task. Real Madrid impressed the footballing community when beating Paris Saint-Germain. Especially the second half of the second match was very impressive by Real Madrid. It’s going to be very interesting to see how Chelsea performs against this Real Madrid side.

Manchester City versus Atletico Madrid

Manchester City is still on the hunt for their first Champions League title. Pep Guardiola really wants to win this tournament with Manchester City. In the quarter final they will play a team he knows very well. Atletico Madrid is a team Pep faced a lot in his career. Now he needs to beat Simeone’s side to reach the semi-final. If they manage to get through to the next round, they will play the winner of Chelsea versus Real Madrid.

Villarreal versus Bayern Munich

Villarreal is one of the suprises of this part of the tournament. Unai Emery’s side reached this tournament after winning the Europa League last season, now they play one of the favourites to win this tournament. Bayern Munich is a very strong side, but they struggled in the first leg of their tie against RB Salzburg.

Liverpool versus Benfica

On first sight, Liverpool has the easiest draw of the English teams in the quarter final. They face Benfica, a good team but not of the level of some of the other teams in this draw. This should be a draw Liverpool can work with. Especially with the quality they’ve got in front with the likes of Salah, Diaz, Jota and Mane, they should be able to eliminate Benfica to face either Villarreal or Bayern Munich in the semi-final.
