Champions League round 2 preview English teams

The weekend is behind us so it’s time to look forward at another week of Champions League football. In this article we preview on the upcoming Champions League fixtures of Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea. Which teams do you think has the best chance to get the three points this week?

Porto versus Liverpool

The away match for Liverpool in and against Porto can become an important one for this group stage. Liverpool won their first match after a tough battle against AC Milan, while Porto drew 0-0 with Atletico Madrid. Which means Liverpool is the only team on three points. Doubling this to 6 points would be immense with two matches against Atletico Madrid coming up. If Liverpool wins this match, they will hope Atletico Madrid and AC Milan get a draw, which gives Liverpool a 4 points lead after two games. However a win against Porto will be hard to get. Porto proved they are a solid side which is hard to beat.

Paris Saint-Germain versus Manchester City

Out of all the group stage matches, this match and the return in Manchester, are the two matches everybody is looking forward to. The replay of last season’s semi-final immediately during the group stages. Things are even more special since Lionel Messi joined PSG. Messi was also linked to Manchester City for a while. Although he got injured recently, he might be able to make his return for PSG in this match. After a shocking draw against Club Brugge, PSG really needs to win this match to get their first win on the boards.

Juventus versus Chelsea

Juventus versus Chelsea is the battle between two giants in Group H. Both teams won their first match. The winner of this battle will make a big step towards qualification for the next round. Juventus isn’t the team anymore that dominated the Serie A for years. They are really struggling this season, so it’s the perfect opportunity for Chelsea to get three points. Thomas Tüchel would love to bounce back from a defeat against Man City with getting three points in Turin.

Manchester United versus Villarreal

The battle between Manchester United and Villarreal is going to be a tasty one. It’s the replay of the Europa League final a few months ago. The final that was won by Villarreal after David de Gea missed the 11th penalty for Manchester United. Manchester United wants to take their revanche for this final. A packed Old Trafford should be able to shout their team to a victory. Villarreal will once again play in their steady formation trying to get a result.
