England reaches Euro 2020 semi-finals

The people in England really starting to believe that football is coming home! They are right in a way, since the Euro 2020 tournament now continues at Wembley for the semi-finals and final. Which can be a huge advantage for the Three Lions, who qualified for the semi-finals after beating Ukraine in Rome.

Quarter final against Ukraine

This Euro 2020 tournament is played all over Europe. The quarter final against Ukraine was the first and only match England played outside of the UK. After four matches at Wembley, Gareth Southgate’s team travelled to Rome to face Ukraine. A match where the pressure was high, since England was the clear favourite to win this match. Only a goal could ease the pressure. Within 4 minutes the goal was there! Raheem Sterling put Harry Kane in front of the goalkeeper and he netted the ball. An early goal that completely messed up Ukraine’s gameplan. England started leaning back and waited for Ukraine to do something. Early in the second half Maguire and Kane lifted the score to 3-0 and Jordan Henderson finished the job after an hour. With 4-0 England cruises into the semi-final.

Semi-final against Denmark

In the semi-final England faces Denmark. The Danish team started this tournament under extremely difficult circumstances, when Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch. He recovered in the meantime and so has the Danish team. They are looking really solid and eliminated Czech Republic in the quarter finals. It’s going to be very interesting to see if England makes use of their home advantage and beat Denmark, or is the Danish collective is too strong.
