Battle for European football tickets in Premier League

Earlier this week we wrote an article about the battle for the Champions League tickets in the Premier League. Chelsea, Leicester City and Liverpool will decide which team will drop out of the top four to finish fifth. This team will be in the Europa League next season. Unless Chelsea drops out and wins the Champions League next season. In that case Chelsea will qualify for the Champions League as well. In any other scenario the 5th place with be taken by one of these three teams and that team will qualify for the Europa League.

West Ham United

The Hammers played an extraordinary season and are currently in 6th place. Unfortunately for them, West Ham United dropped out of the top 4 in the last few weeks. Now it’s up to them to secure the 6th place. They are currently on 62 points, 3 points above Tottenham Hotspur. With a home match against Southampton, it should be done and dusted for West Ham. The Spurs have got a better goal difference, so if West Ham loses and Spurs wins, the Hammers go down to 7th place.

Tottenham Hotspur

The team has got a horrible season and they can finish off in style by dropping out of the 7th place on the final day of the season. They are currently on 59 points and play against Leicester City. The 7th place secures a ticket for the European Conference League next season. If Tottenham Hotspur loses against Leicester, there are two teams willing to steal this ticket on the final day of the season.

Everton

The Toffees are currently in 8th spot, on the same number of points than Tottenham, but with a worse goal difference. Everton has the toughest match out of all these team, with an away fixture against Manchester City. All they can hope for is that Man City is only preparing for the Champions League final. In that case Everton can win this match and needs Tottenham Hotspur to drop points.

Arsenal

Arsenal fans will have mixed feelings on the weekend. Winning their match against Brighton and Hove Albion, gives them a chance to finish above Spurs. At the same time there’s a big chance they need to play in the European Conference League, something that’s not an attractive future for Arsenal fans. The Gunners prefer to not play in Europe at all, above playing in the Conference League.

This final day of the season is going to be mental! All matches will start at the same time, so make sure you’re ready to follow a lot of football on Sunday afternoon!
