WAGs, the term first grabbed us back in the days of celebrity gossip magazines and the much-loved TV programme Footballers Wives, and the development of social media has only caused our fascination with the lives of the wives and girlfriends of the most famous footballers, to grow even further.
Not to mention, 2019’s Rooney v Vardy drama which sparked even further interest in the WAG world!
Of course, celebs run in small circles, and many footballers wives and girlfriends are also famous in their own rights, from pursuits including music, acting and modelling - many are arguable even more successful than their footballing counterpart.
So which WAGs have the most interesting stories to tell on Instagram?
We decided to crunch the numbers, and finding out the most followed WAGs on Instagram who you should be following.
We looked at the wife or girlfriend of every English Premier League footballer to determine the Most Instagrammed WAGs. Check them out below.

Famous for: Member of Little Mix
Coming out as the most followed WAG in the Premier League is Perrie Edwards who came out on top with a whopping 9,723,320 followers on Instagram. There’s no surprise that the superstar bags the top spot as her successful career in Little Mix allowed her to build her reputation years before meeting her boyfriend Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who plays for Liverpool F.C. Her Instagram features an array of carefully curated imagery documenting her life as a global superstar, visiting exotic places and posing in high fashion.
2. Leigh-Anne Pinnock

Famous for: Member of Little Mix
Little Mix must have the gift of the gab when bagging footballers because in second place is another pop icon who happens to be part of the same girl band as Perrie. Leigh-Anne Pinnock who is currently dating Watford footballer Andre Gray comes in at a cool second with over 5 million followers. Although she may not have as many followers as her fellow bandmate Perrie her Instagram follows a similar theme of outfit shots in exotic places and some cute pics of her man and their pet dogs.
3. Amine Gülşe

Famous for: Actress, Model
Coming in at third place is Amine Gülşe, a Turkish and Swedish actress who is married to Arsenal star Mesut Ozil. Amine commands over 2.4 million followers and has an impressive resume as an actress, model and was crowned Miss Turkey 2014 and represented her country in the Miss World 2014 pageant. The beauty queen’s feed is much more relaxed than the other WAGs we’ve seen on the list with posts of her and Mesut walking their dogs in the park, nights out with friends and even fan-art of herself.
4. Melanie Da Cruz

Famous for: Reality TV Star
Following closely behind with a similar number of Instagram followers is Melanie Da Cruz, the controversial girlfriend of Manchester United’s Anthony Martial. The pair met after Anthony dumped his previous girlfriend to for Da Cruz. Melanie made a name for herself after an appearance on Secret Story, kind of like a French Big Brother. Although she didn’t win the hearts of the public after being voted out, she now has a thriving Instagram account full of swimsuit shots and showing off her glam lifestyle.
5. Edurne

Famous for: Singer, Actress, Television Presenter
Completing the top 5 is Edurne, a Spanish singer, actress and television presenter who is currently dating Manchester United’s David de Gea. Edurne has an incredible 1.4 million followers who follow her Instagram which is full of fashion photography, cute selfies with her dogs and clips of doing what she does best on stage. She is considered to be one of Spain’s most beloved celebrities thanks to her judging Got Talent and being an international fashion icon.
Other highlights include Rebekah Vardy who came in at 13th place with 433,975 followers. Vardy has a very family-oriented feed especially after the birth of her daughter Olivia Grace. Recently, Rebekah Vardy is possibly best known for her online drama with Coleen Rooney after the two fell out over some allegedly leaked information. Unfortunately, as Coleen Rooney’s husband Wayne no longer plays for a Premier League team any longer, Coleen has not been included in the final results. However, we can confirm that she dwarfs Rebekah’s Instagram with 868,578.
