Liverpool v Leicester match preview

Liverpool host Leicester in the Premier League match of the weekend. Liverpool are leading the way in the league and are five points ahead of Manchester City after seven matches. Liverpool had a very eventful Champions League match where they gave up a three-goal lead only for Salah to score the winner and have them win 4-3. Liverpool have won all of their opening seven matches and have now won 16 in a row which is only two off the record of 18 set by Manchester City two seasons ago.

Leicester have also started the season well, with Rodger’s team looking the most likely to break into the “top 6”. Leicester had a great game last time out where they demolished Newcastle, 5-0 with Vardy putting in a man of the match performance. They would have watched Liverpool’s game against Salzburg and been encouraged that they can go to Anfield and win there with their current form.

On the injury list for Liverpool, Alisson is still recovering from his injury on the first day of the season and will probably not be back in time for this weekend. Matip also missed the game against Salzburg and is not sure whether he will make it back in time either. Shaqiri is injured and there is no time frame for him to return.

For Leicester Maddison who missed the game against Newcastle could return but they are not sure if he will be fully fit so he will probably start on the bench. They will also be without James and Amartey who are both sidelined.

The last time the two teams faced each other was in January and it was one of the few occasions that Liverpool dropped points last season with the match ending 1-1. Liverpool’s defense has been a bit shaky this season, and Van Dijk has dipped in form recently. This is something that Leicester will want to capitalize on and could come away with a shock result.

Predicted score- Liverpool 2-2 Leicester
