Arsenal versus Manchester United preview

Arsenal host Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday. The two teams are only separated by one point and with only 9 games left both teams will look at this as a 6 pointer. The race for the top four is heating up and Chelsea will also be watching this match with interest, knowing that if they beat Wolves, they will leapfrog whichever team loses with a game in hand. United against Arsenal used to be the title decider two decades ago but a lot has changed since then. Both clubs had their long-standing managers leave and the clubs have not been fighting for the title for various years now. These days they are fighting for their position in the Champions League and their rivalry continues.

United will be full of confidence after one of their greatest comebacks on Wednesday against PSG. Lukaku and Rashford have been in good form and the return of Pogba in the midfield will be welcome by the squad that is already small due to many injuries. The game against PSG was the biggest surprise of the week and showed the class that United have in their squad. Solskjaer will want to take that momentum into this match and solidify their spot in fourth.

Arsenal will be ruing last weekend’s result when they had the opportunity to strengthen their position in fourth, however, Aubameyang was not able to convert a late penalty. Their 3-1 loss against Rennes in the Europa League might also have a negative effect on the players and they will have to try put this result out of their mind when they face United. This match will not decide who finishes in the top four, however, it will give a good indication where both teams stand and will give a big boost to whichever team wins.
