Premier League supplies most WC2018 quarter final players

The English Premier League dominates the World Cup football in Russia at the moment. 111 Premier League players travelled to Russia with their national team. Now we arrived in the quarter final stages, it’s time to see how the Premier League is doing so far. There are 8 teams in this tournament, with a total of 183 players. Croatia is the only team with 22 players, because they sent Kalinic home since he refused to come on as a substitute in the first game. Twenty-seven percent of these players (50 in total) earn their money in the English Premier League.

Manchester City is the team with the most players still active in the World Cup. A whopping number of eleven Man City players are still in the tournament. It’s an entire line-up that will be missing the start of pre-season. Both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have nine players still in the tournament. There is no surprise that the top 3 of the previous Premier League season also have the most number of players on the World Cup. It’s very interesting to see how teams will cope with the absence of these players. The Russian league comes in second place with 24 active players in the World Cup quarter finals. 21 of the Russian national team players, are active in their own Russian Premier League.
