Rivalries
Main Rivals
Girondins de Bordeaux
The Derby de la Garonne refers to the clashes between Toulouse Football Club and Girondins de Bordeaux. Although the two clubs are based in cities along the Garonne River, this rivalry is more extra-sportive. The term "derby" usually refers to a sporting clash between two teams located less than 50 kilometers apart, which is not the case here. Nevertheless, matches between Toulouse and Bordeaux are always eagerly anticipated by fans of both camps.
Montpellier HSC
The regional opposition between Toulouse and Montpellier is still relatively young and struggles to establish itself due to the limited sporting rivalry between the two southern clubs. Since the 2014 territorial reform, Toulouse and Montpellier are in the same region, Occitanie, but the two clubs have never cultivated a true sporting antagonism. Thus, the Occitanie derby is often seen as less intense compared to other historical rivalries in French football.
