This will be a particularly popular option for World Cup and World League games which some fans have not been able to attend, as well as notable international matches between international teams.

Fans will become more involved in the match and key decisions, through the use of social media. Questions such as which players to substitute will be posed to fans and voted on live during matches.

The advancement of VR technology will have a massive impact on the way in which football is consumed by the public. VR headsets will allow fans to watch matches from a variety of different perspectives, all while in the comfort of their own home. VR could be used to transport the viewer to be watching the match within the stadium, bring the match direct into their own living room or allow viewers to experience the game from a players’ perspective. VR options will also be available for attendees at the match to view the game from a players’ perspective.
