Manchester City are in the Capital One Cup Final v the Reds!

Manchester City 3-1 Everton (4-3 on agg): Sergio Aguero sends City to Wembley

Manuel Pellegrini's Manchester City side displayed their fierce "fighting qualities" and an amazing defense as they soundly defeated Everton 3-1 to win their Capital One Cup second leg tie to earn a spot in the upcoming Capital One Cup Final 2016 clash taking place at Wembley Stadium in London, England on Sunday February 28.

In a thrilling clash at the Etihad, Manchester City battled back from a first-leg deficit to defeat Everton and set up a League Cup final fight with Liverpool. Manuel Pellegrini's side is already the most successful team in the competition's history with eight Capital One Cup trophies. This will be Liverpool's 12th appearance in the tournament's final clash.

A confident Roberto Martinez's Everton was in the lead looking on course for the League Cup final when Ross Barkley's brilliant run and 20-yard shot in the 18th minute added to their 2-1 aggregate advantage from the first leg. Fernandinho's goal put City level at 1-1 on the night, but Everton still had the edge until City called in sub Kevin de Bruyne who turned home Raheem Sterling's shot to level the tie with only 20 minutes left in the match.

Argentine superstar striker Sergio Aguero has a record of scoring goals when it counts on big occasions - and he netted his 16th of the 2015-16 season to win the match for his side! City sealed their place in the final at Wembley when Aguero scored the winner for City when he brilliantly headed De Bruyne's cross past Everton goalie Joel Robles late in the second half making it Man City 3-1 Everton (4-3 on agg). Everton previously won their first semi-final tie with Manchester 2-1.

City will face Liverpool in the final after the Reds defeated Stoke City in their second leg of the other semi-final. Jurgen Klopp's side Liverpool earned a place in the tournament showpiece at England's national stadium by beating Stoke City in a penalty shootout at Anfield, winning 6-5 after the series ended 1-1 on aggregate. "I love this cup!" declared new Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp after Liverpool went through to the German's first Capital One Cup final as manager of the Reds by beating Stoke City on penalties in the semis. "Until now, it has been a great tournament," said a delighted Klopp. "The final is for the whole squad because nearly everybody has played - we had all our parts of this cool tournament."

"The first round, I was not here," continued Klopp. "The second round, a young team played and did great against a really strong opponent, Bournemouth; then we played a perfect game at Southampton and a really good game at Stoke. "We fought for the final!" declared Klopp. "I love this cup so far!" However Everton boss Roberto Martinez has reason to complain after the replay of Aguero's goal that brought game back to 2-1 as the ball had clearly gone out of play as Sterling crossed.

Late in the match Man City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, who scored and assisted the Aguero winner, was carried off on a stretcher with his right knee in a brace taking the gloss off City's victory after an awkward landing in injury time. Kevin de Bruyne says he will be out for about 10 weeks. Twenty-four year old Belgium international De Bruyne could miss up to 13 Premiership and cup games, including the Capital One Cup final with Liverpool on February 28th, both legs of the Champions League last-16 tie with Dynamo Kiev and the Manchester Derby against Manchester United on March 20th.

"I'll be out for around 10 weeks," said De Bruyne after seeing a specialist. The £55m former Wolfsburg player is City's second top goalscorer with 12 goals this season, only four behind Sergio Aguero. "Kevin told me the only thing he can do is work hard and come back. Kevin is sad. His dream is to always be playing football," said De Bruyne's agent.

Meanwhile, Man City's Raheem Sterling said he is ready to face his old club Liverpool in the final insisting it will be "strictly business". Sterling who completed a £49m move from Liverpool to the Etihad Stadium last summer intends to be fully focused on earning his first trophy with Man City. "This is what I've wanted to do. I've come here and I'm lucky enough to be in a final. This may be the most exciting Capital One Cup Final to date. May the best team win!
