Barcelona destroy Roma 6-1 at Camp Nou in Champions League Group E

La Liga’s Barcelona danced over Serie A’s Roma to win the top spot in Champions League group E today. Blaugrana fans are floating on cloud 9 after recent Barca victories in El Clasico against Real Madrid and the Champions League against Roma intensify high hopes for another Barcelona treble win this campaign.

Luis Enrique’s side earned a 4-0 El Clasico victory in the 230th edition against Los Blancos on Saturday putting them in first place on the Spanish La Liga Table. Barcelona exploited the gulf behind Real’s Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez and Cristiano Ronaldo to get to goal over and over again by overwhelming Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.

Barcelona even improved upon their stellar El Clasico performance in their clash tonight with Roma. Playing in maximum form, Barcelona cinched the top spot in Group E with a match to spare. Fueled with confidence by their utter devastation of Real Madrid in El Clasico, Barcelona got off to a brilliant start demonstrating sparkling form as they staked their claim early against AS Roma. Messi delivered the fifth Barcelona goal before Adriano scored the sixth and Barca’s place in the knockout stage was secured. Roma goalie Wojciech Szcezny saved Neymar’s penalty.

Edin Dzeko scored AS Roma’s only goal of the match. Roma must now win at home against BATE Borisov on Dec. 9 at Stadio Olimpico to secure second place ahead of Leverkusen. Barca goalie Marc-André ter Stegen came close to earning a clean sheet. After playing 90 minutes in the match with Roma, Barca Captain Lionel Messi remarked that he is feeling better "little by little" since his return from a ligament injury he sustained on September 26, 2015. Messi's two goals were his first in the Champions League this season and 78th and 79th in Champions League, second only to Real Madrid superstar Crisitano Ronaldo's record of 83. Barcelona will host Real Sociedad in La Liga action on Saturday.
