Copa del Rey Final: Real Madrid v Barcelona Preview

Real Madrid take on FC Barcelona Wednesday night in the Copa del Rey final match at Mestalla Stadium in Valencia.

This will be the seventh time both Spanish giants go head-to-head in the King’s Cup final with 3 victories for each side from their previous matches.

The last time Los Blancos face the Blaugranas at this stage was in 2011 when Cristiano Ronaldo extra time header gave Real the triumph.

But the Portuguese superstar will watch tonight’s game from the stands due to a hamstring injury.

Real Madrid will also be without Marcelo, Arbeloa and Khedira while Barcelona have some big defensive problems with Gerard Pique, Marc Bartra and Carles Puyol all serious doubts.

Barcelona crashed out of the Champions League quarterfinals last week against league leaders Atletico and have fallen into the third place of the table following their shocking 1-0 defeat at Granada last weekend.

Real Madrid suffered without Cristiano to qualify for the Champions League semifinals as they lost 2-0 to Borussia Dortmund last week but still went through 3-2 on aggregate thanks to the first leg victory.

But Los Blancos recovered from that defeat as they trashed 4-0 Almeria last Saturday at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium to move up to 2nd place in La Liga.

Real Madrid arrive to Valencia as favourite to win the Copa del Rey following Barcelona latest performances, however they were also favourite a month ago when Messi and company visit the Bernabeu and the Blaugranas pulled off a 4-3 victory.
