English Premiership: Arsenal 1-1 Man City | Liverpool 4-0 Spurs

Arsenal 1-1 Manchester City

Manchester City and Arsenal had no choice but to settle for a 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Following Chelsea’s unexpected 1-0 defeat against Crystal Palace, the Citizens missed the chance to overlap the Blues in the Premier League table but they still have 2 games in hand.

In-form David Silva broke the deadlock in the 18th minute when he drove a fast counterattack and opened the ball to Edin Dzeko. The Bosnian shot from the left flank to see the ball rebound back off the post straight to the Spaniard who tapped in from close range.

Manchester City dominated the game for the rest of the first half but Manuel Pellegrini’s men were unable to find the second goal.

Arsenal improved after the restart and Mathieu Flamini levelled the game following Lukas Podolski’s cross in the 58th minute.

Both teams created chances to win the game but at the end Citizens and Gunners held on for the draw.

Liverpool 4-0 Tottenham Hotspur

Liverpool has returned to the top of the Premier League table as they trashed 4-0 Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday at Anfield Road.

The Reds went in front after just 2 minutes when Younes Kaboul unfortunately sent a low Glen Johnson cross into his own net instead of clearing the ball.

Luis Suarez made it 2-0 in the 25th minute following another mistake from Kaboul who could not control the ball allowing the Uruguayan drive into the area and finish into the bottom corner. It was Suarez 29th goal of the season.

Coutinho scored the third from 25 yards with a powerful low shot as Spurs defense continued to struggle against the Reds offensive play in the second half.

Jordan Henderson's free-kick completed the rout 15 minutes from time as his shot went through a crowded penalty area and past Lloris into the net.

Victory means Liverpool moves two points ahead of Chelsea and four in front of Manchester City but Citizens have played two games fewer than Reds and Blues.
