FA Cup: Fulham 3-0 Norwich City

Fulham progressed to the fourth round of the FA Cup, beating a tired-looking Norwich 3-0 at Craven Cottage. Norwich started with confidence, and should have been two up after chances from Nathan Redmond and Robert Snodgrass were wasted. Redmond's unsuccessful one-on-one chance with the Fulham keeper Maarten Stekelenburg was extremely frustrating for the visiting fans.

After Norwich's strong start, Fulham found their feet and went one up in the 15th minute, courtesy of a Darren bent goal. He connected with a crossed ball from Pajtim Kasami and saw his shot pass Mark Bunn into the back of the net. The goal took the wind out of Norwich's sails, and they found themselves two down just before half-time, Ashkan Dejagah scoring from close range. The Fulham manager, Rene Meulensteen, who only took charge last month, made nine changes to the team that were thrashed 4-1 at home last Saturday.

Both sides started the second-half sluggishly. Norwich brought on new record-signing Ricky van Wolfswinkel, but it still wasn't enough to energize the Canaries. Sebastien Bassong came close to grabbing Fulham's third in the 60th minute with his on-target header, but it was Steve Sidwell who took that honour, when in the 68th minute he headed in a cross from Sascha Riether at the back post. It wasn't a particularly great performance from Fulham, but it was enough to give them some confidence in the coming games, and another FA Cup appearance will be welcome.
