Manchester United stay at the top of Group A after a goalless draw with Real Sociedad. Real Sociedad didn't manage to fire a single shot on target for the whole match. Van Persie's attempt after Young's cross hit the post and again after his penalty kick after a foul by Young. United should be please with their defensive prowess, especially with performances from Vidic and Evra. But would be disappointed with missed chances in the 2nd half.

Manchester City 5-2 CSKA Moscow

Manchester City reached the final 16 thanks of the Champion's League thanks to Alvaro Negredo's hat-trick when they beat CSKA Moscow 5-2. Sergio Aguero from Argentina scored twice in the first half to become City's top scoring player in European football and put them on course to qualify from Group D. Aguero converted a penalty in the third minute, a second in the 20th and then provided Negredo with a chance, as City bounded into a 3-0 lead after half an hour. Seydou Doumbia, the CSKA striker also scored 2 goals either side of Negredo's second goal.
