England and Italy Unseeded for 2014 World Cup Draw

Following their failure to reach the top seven of FIFA's latest world rankings, both Italy and England have missed out on top seeding for the 2014 World Cup Final draw. The world's top seven teams plus hosts Brazil make up the eight seedings in the draw for the finals, so they will all avoid each other in the group stages of the tournament. The Executive Committee of FIFA have announced that the seedings will depend solely on the world rankings of October 17th, which means the Netherlands and Italy will face the prospect of meeting one of the world's top teams in the group stages. However, while it was bad news for England, Italy and the Netherlands, the Switzerland team has been awarded for its recent good run of results with a place in pot one of the draw. Ottmar Hitzfeld's team rose from 14th the 7th in the world, so they will fancy their chances of progressing to the second round of the tournament. England now face the prospect of meeting on of Uruguay, Colombia, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Argentina, Spain or Brazil in the first round - which could make the task of qualifying for the knock-out phase a difficult proposition. You can buy all your England World Cup tickets, Netherlands football tickets and Italy football tickets right here at LiveFootballTickets.
