Fulham 1-3 Arsenal

Arsenal restored some confidence after a home defeat against Aston Villa by beating Fulham 3-1 on a wet afternoon at Craven Cottage. Olivier Giroud put the visitors one up in the 14th minute, skillfully flicking the ball past David Stockdale from close range. Lukas Podolski made it 2-0 four minutes before half-time. Theo Walcott saw his shot saved by Stockdale, but the rebound fell to Podolski who netted the ball from 18 yards out. Fulham had periods where they dominated possession, but arsenal started to control the midfield, and Podolski grabbed his second in the 68th minute, hitting a superb low shot that found the far corner. Fulham's first defeat of the season was all but guaranteed, but Darren bent gave the fans a small consolation when he scored with thirteen minutes of the match remaining.

Aston Villa 0-1 Liverpool

Daniel Sturridge was Liverpool's hero for the second match in succession, securing all three points in a comfortable 1-0 victory over Villa. Liverpool look in fine form and they started the match solidly, causing trouble for the Villa defense. In the 21st minute, Sturridge collected the ball and rounded Antonio Luna and Brad Guzan to poke the ball into the top of the net. The home fans became restless and their team renewed their effort to get on the scoreboard. Benteke saw Mignolet tip his shot round the post and Daniel Agger managed to deflect Andreas Weimann's shot just over the crossbar. Both sides were denied penalty appeals in the closing stages, and Liverpool will go back to Anfield happy with the three points.
