Champions League Play-Offs: Fenerbahce 0-3 Arsenal

The last time Arsenal played Fenerbahce at Sukru Saracoglu Stadium in 2008, they romped home to a 5-2 victory, and it was the same attacking style of play that ensured they left Turkey again victorious, beating Fenerbahce 3-0 in the Champions League play-offs.

That night in 2008 saw a 17 year old Aaron Ramsey score his first goal for Arsenal in injury time. He scored another one in this match, displaying a more commanding style and influencing the game. With the first half ending without any goals, six minuted into the second half, Ramsey's pass sent Theo Walcott free down the right side of the pitch. Walcott then whipped in a cross for Kieran Gibbs to claim his first European goal for the club.

Just after the hour mark, Ramsey showed just how more skilled and competent he has become with a fine solo effort, weaving his way through the midfield and seeing his shot from outside the area slip through Volkan Demirel's gloves.

The atmosphere inside the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium from the local fans had been intimidating, but after the two goals the crowd began to quiten down. Fenerbahce striker Moussa Sow gave the home team it's best chance, but saw his header from Raul Meireles's cross go over the crossbar. The game was finally put out of Fenerbahce's reach when, in the 77th minute, Michal Kadlec went into the back of Walcott, earning the English team a penalty. The spot kick was put away firmly by Olivier Giroud, sealing an emphatic win.
