English Premiership: Chelsea 2-2 Tottenham

Spurs hold Chelsea in top of the table thriller

In a dramatic match, Spurs drew 2-2 with Chelsea, in a top of the table clash which could have a huge impact on the Champions League Qualification spots. Spurs were grateful to the Icelandic attacker Sigurdsson, who took a chance well in the 80th minute, bucking the trend of history - as Spurs claimed a rare point at Stamford Bridge. However, with two games to go, they will rely on mistakes by Arsenal or the Blues if they are to make it into the Champions League next year.

An equalizer made in Iceland

Chelsea took the lead with a tap in by Oscar, but Spurs hit back soon after via Emmanuel Adebayor who scored a splendid long range effort. This was cancelled out by a well taken Ramires goal after approach work by Fernando Torres. Despite Chelsea pressure, they could not add to their lead, and Spurs claimed a deserved equalizer.

Spurs could still miss out on the Champions League

After the match, Chelsea are third, two points ahead of Arsenal and three ahead of Spurs, who have see their chances of playing elite football recede in recent weeks, despite a promising season. They may not even make the fourth spot required to qualify for a Champions League playoff. It is possible that Chelsea will suffer due to the Europa League final, but will not be phased by matches against Villa and Everton. Spurs, however, may slip up against a tough Stoke side and Sunderland.
