English Premiership: Arsenal 0-0 Everton

Neither Arsenal nor Everton will be pleased as both clubs passed up the chance to press their case for Champions League football with an enthralling but ultimately unproductive 0-0 draw a the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal remain in third spot, two points in front of fellow Londoners, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur but having played one game more than Spurs and two more than Chelsea. Everton are in sixth place, two points behind Spurs. Everton worked hard for their point and ended Arsenal's run of four wins on the bounce. Giroud spurns gilt-edged chances

Arsenal may feel the more aggrieved at the 0-0 result after Oliver Giroud missed chances in both halves. Everton youngster, Ross Barkley, also spurned a glorious chance, blazing wide in what was a closely-fought contest. Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, claimed that his side should have won the match but insisted that his team were still in a good position to finish in the top four. Everton boss, David Moyes, meanwhile, said that he would continue to aim for a top four finish but would now take a Europa League spot if it were offered.
