Champions League: Celtic 2-1 Barcelona | Braga 1-3 Man Utd

Celtic 2-1 Barcelona

Celtic shocked Barcelona, and everyone watching, at Celtic Park on Wednesday, beating the Spanish giants 2-1 and taking a big step towards qualifying for the last 16. It was an outstanding victory for Neil Lennon's team, and will surely go down as one of their most memorable home games. Victor Wanyama put the home side one up in the 21st minute. Charlie Mulgrew delivered a corner from the right and Wanyama managed to outjump Jordi Alba and force his powerful header past Valdes. Celtic managed to hang on to their lead going into the break, but only after Messi and Alexis Sanchez both hit the woodwork. In the 83rd minute, the stuff dreams are made of seemed to materialise. Forster kicked the ball upfield and Xavi Hernandez fluffed his attempt to get the ball back in the Celtic half. Tony Watt, an 18 year old £50,000 signing from Airdrie, raced through and calmly made it 2-0. Messi pulled one back in the first minute of injury time, but the glory deservedly went to Celtic for a game that will never be forgotten.

Sporting Braga 1-3 Manchester United

Manchester United advanced to the knock-out stages of the Champions League, beating Braga 3-1 at the Estádio Municipal in Portugal. The home team dominated the game for the first hour, and had gone one up when they were awarded a penalty four minutes into the second half. Custodio fell to the floor after barging into Jonny Evans, and the referee rather harshly pointed to the spot. Osorio Alan dispatched the spot-kick to make it 1-0. On the hour mark the stadium was hit by a power cut, and the floodlights went out. The teams trudged off and came back after a 12 minute delay. The rest seemed to energise United and they managed to turn the game around. Robin van Persie scored in the 80th minute, and five minutes later Rooney was tripped in the box and awarded a penalty. He took it himself and put them two up, and Javier Hernandez made it 3-1 in the second minute of injury time. The final score did not do the Portuguese team justice. United were lucky and anyone watching would agree.
