1-1 draw leaves everything open for Real and City

Real Madrid and Manchester City have battled to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the 2022-2023 Champions League semi-final tie at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid. The visitors, Manchester City, dominated the first half, but it was Real Madrid who took the lead in the 36th minute with a stunning goal from Vinicius Jr. The Brazilian forward received the ball outside the box, took a few steps forward, and unleashed a powerful shot that went straight into the top corner, leaving the City goalkeeper with no chance.

Things turned around in 2nd half

Real Madrid came out stronger in the second half, but this time it was City in the 67th minute when Kevin De Bruyne found the back of the net with a low shot from distance. The Belgian midfielder got the ball outside the box and fired a shot that went through a crowd of players before finding its way into the bottom corner of the net.

Madrid kept pushing

Real Madrid responded with some attacking moves of their own, but they were unable to find a way past the City defence, who held on to secure a valuable away goal. The result leaves the tie finely poised ahead of the second leg at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester. Both teams will be looking to progress to the final, but they will need to put in a top-notch performance if they are to do so. It was another really exciting Champions League battle, between two of the best teams around at the moment.

Real Madrid will take heart from their second-half performance and will be looking to build on that in the second leg. Meanwhile, Manchester City will be looking to use their home advantage to full effect and secure a place in the final. Overall, it was an entertaining and closely contested match, and fans can look forward to another exciting encounter when the two teams meet again in the second leg. Usually we see an increase in sales during a match. This time the Kevin de Bruyne goal convinced some Manchester City fans to book their Champions League final tickets already.
