World Cup timing

Playing the World Cup for your country, is a dream of pretty much every professional football player. We all know that special feeling when you’re following your country as a kid. How special is it when you get the chance to play the tournament you’ve been following all your life. The World Cup traditionally is played in the summer, roughly four weeks after the end of the football season. This break of a month, gives players the chance to get some rest and recover from any small injuries. This year the World Cup starts only a week after the final club football games. Any sort of injury in the last round of club football, can kill your chances on playing the World Cup.

James Maddison

James Maddison got off to a flying start in the match against West Ham United. He scored the first goal of the match. His selection for the World Cup clearly lifted his confidence even more. Unfortunately, things changed pretty quickly. In the 25th minute, he got subbed off after suffering an injury. This can be the end of his dream. Quickly after the match Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers said it was a precautionary substitution and he believes Maddison will be fine for the World Cup. Let’s all hope he’s right! James Maddison deserves to show his quality in Qatar this winter!
