Italy and Germany last World Cup test cases for England

The English national football team is slowly shaping up towards the 2022 World Cup tournament in Qatar. The tournament will start on the 20th of November. This means the currently international break is the last team Gareth Southgate gets his squad together before he has to decide which 26 players he will bring along to Qatar this winter. Italy

On Friday the English team plays an away match at San Siro against Italy. The Italian team will be highly motivated since they missed out on qualification for the World Cup. This replay of the Euro 2020 final, will be their chance to show the World they are still a good side. For the English team it’s the perfect opportunity to get their revanche for losing the Euro final on penalties.

Germany

This match will be a very good testcase. Both teams belong between the top favourites for the World Cup tournament. In this Nations League match they can see how both teams are compared to each other. Is one team much better or are the close? This match will certainly give us more information about the upcoming World Cup tournament. This match is also the last opportunity for Gareth Southgate to see which players he wants to bring to the tournament. Will he give some players their final chance to show themselves?
