Champions League tournament draw

The Bundesliga just finished, the Premier League is in the latter stages of the league, just like the Serie A and La Liga. This is the moment people start thinking about the UEFA Champions League. Today was the draw for the remainder of the tournament.

UEFA CL reminder

Let’s start with a reminder where the tournament is at this moment. Atletico Madrid, Atalanta Bergamo, RB Leipzig and PSG are qualified for the quarter finals. A couple of ties are currently still in the round of 16. These four ties will be finished first: Manchester City versus Real Madrid, Juventus versus Olympique Lyonnais, Napoli versus Barcelona and Chelsea versus Bayern Munich.

Quarter final draw

Today was the day the teams know how the rest of their tournament can look like. The UEFA Champions League is finished and these four quarter finals came out of the draw:

  1. Real Madrid/Manchester City v Olympique Lyonnais/Juventus
  2. RB Leipzig v Atletico Madrid
  3. Napoli/Barcelona v Chelsea/Bayern Munich
  4. Atalanta Bergamo v PSG

Semi finals

Four teams will eventually qualify for the semi-finals. The winners of quarter finals 1 and 3 will face each other in the semis. The same goes for the winners of quarter finals 2 and 4. It’s going to be a very strange but interesting end of this season’s Champions league. All matches will take place in Portugal. The Champions League final will be played at Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica.
