Aston Villa has become the first contestant for the Carabao Cup final on the first of March. This tie looked destined to go to penalties for a decider, but it was Trézéguet who decided the tie late in injury time.

The Carabao Cup semi-finals are a tie going over 2 matches to decided which teams will earn their place in the final. Aston Villa took the lead in both matches against Leicester City. In both matches it was Nigerian striker Kelechi Ihaenacho who scored the equalizer for the Foxes. When fans of both teams were preparing for a penalty shoot-out, Trezeguet came into the penalty box to put Ahmed El Mohamady behind Kasper Schmeichel.
