Tottenham v Liverpool match preview

Tottenham host leaders Liverpool in the Premier League match of the weekend. Mourinho will be looking to inflict Liverpool’s first league defeat in over a year but it will be a difficult task. It will take one of the biggest capitulations in sporting history for Liverpool to not win their first Premier League title, but Mourinho will want to try to make sure that they do not match the 2004 Arsenal invincibles.

Liverpool will come into the game as heavy favorites to win the match based on the form they have been in and the fact that Spurs have been in inconsistent form as well as having a growing number of players sidelined through injury. Mourinho, however, loves these types of games where his team are not expected to win and often comes up with a tactical masterclass. This could be a step too far for him though, as Kane, Sissoko, and Ndombele have been injured in the last week.

Klopp will be encouraged by the return of Matip who has been out since November with Shaqiri also returning. Mane will be hoping to get on the scoresheet fresh off becoming the African player of the year. He beat out Aubameyang and teammate Salah to win the award for the first time.

When these two teams faced each other earlier in the season, Spurs started the Kane superbly by getting a goal through Kane in the first minute. However, as the match progressed Liverpool got in their stride and scored twice in the second half to win the game 2-1. Liverpool were made to work for the win and could have easily drawn or lost it if Spurs didn’t waste their chances in the first half. In the last three matches between the two teams, Liverpool have won 2-1 in each of them and it would not be a surprise if that is the score again on Saturday.

Predicted result Tottenham 1-2 Liverpool.
