Liverpool versus Tottenham preview

Liverpool face Tottenham at Anfield on Sunday in the Premier League. This is a game of big significance for both teams. Liverpool will want to continue their push for the title and will hope to stay within one point of Manchester City, if City wins both of their matches in this game week. Tottenham, on the other hand, will be looking to stay in the top four spots, however, a loss, coupled with other results not going their way could mean they end the weekend outside of the Champions League places.

The last time the two teams met, back in September, Liverpool completely dominated the match. Spurs were lucky that the game was not more damaging, as Liverpool had various chances to score more goals. The game ended 2-1 with Spurs only getting a late consolation. One thing Liverpool will be hoping is that Salah can regain his scoring touch. So far this season he has only scored one goal against top 6 sides, which was a penalty against Arsenal. He has also not scored in his last five league matches, which is slightly worrying, for last season’s most prolific scorer. He was given time off from Egypt during this international break, which has hopefully given him some time to recharge his batteries. Mane has also been in great form of late, and Klopp will be hoping that he will be able to continue this on Sunday.

Spurs will happy that Alli will return with no injuries as he has only played one game for this since his return. He will be a much-needed boost for the team who has not won a game in their last four outings. Spurs have not beaten Liverpool at Anfield since 2001, however, they will want to put in a similar performance as they did last year when the game ended 2-2. Unfortunately, based on form, and the importance of this match to Liverpool, it is likely that Spurs will go home empty-handed.

Prediction Liverpool 3-1 Tottenham.
