Tottenham Arsenal | North London derby Preview

Tottenham host Arsenal on Saturday lunchtime for the North London derby. Spurs have lost two games in a row now and their title hopes look to be all but over. Arsenal, on the other hand, are coming off the back of a 5-1 victory against Bournemouth where Mkhitaryan and Ozil were the stars. It was particularly pleasing for the Arsenal faithful to see Ozil back in the starting lineup and performing, after months of being in and out of the team. Arsenal will want a repeat of this performance and know that a win will put them only one point behind Spurs.

Pochettino claimed after the loss to Burnley that it could be another 10 years until they win the Premier League title. Tottenham will have to not think that far into the future now and just put the previous two performances behind them. They will need to play much better than they did if they want to win and not be dragged into the top four battle. If Spurs lose then it will be the first time since 2012 that they lost three league games in a row. Pochettino will also have Tuesday’s Champions League second leg match in mind and will want his team to put in a good performance so they come into that match full of confidence.

Emery’s main goal this season is to get Arsenal back into the Champions League, and he is on course to do that. They currently are in fourth place one point above Manchester United and three points above Chelsea although they have a game in hand. If Emery’s team can win against Spurs, it will send out a big statement to their tops four rivals ad boost their confidence greatly going into the game against United, which follows this derby.

Both teams will really want to win and therefore will play quite attacking football. This seems like a game which will produce a high scoring draw.

Prediction Spurs 2-2 Arsenal.
