Who will win the Champions League?

There are many big European clubs that think they can win the Champions League this season. Even though we are only half way through the group stage, there are already indications of the clubs that could go far and the clubs that will not go so far.

So far, each team has only played three games in the Champions League, but the ones that impressed most so far are: Dortmund, Barcelona, PSG, Man City and Juventus. Apart from Dortmund, who have been playing very well but don’t have the squad to go all the way, the other four are considered the favorites to win this year’s competition. Real Madrid would be in the mix too, however, after seeing their performances in the league and the Champions League, it has led me to believe that they will not be in the final for the fourth straight year.

Barcelona have also had some problems in La Liga this season, but in the Champions League they look very solid, especially after beating Inter with relative ease. They sit at the top of their group with three wins, ten goals scored and only two conceded.

PSG lost their first match to Liverpool in the game of the Champions League so far. They then beat Red Star Belgrade comfortably as they should. PSG drew their next match against Napoli 2-2. In spite of this based on their league form where they have won 11 straight matches, I think that they will finish top of the group followed by Liverpool.

Manchester city lost to Lyon in their first match. Despite this they are sitting top of the group now after two wins and Lyon drawing their last two matches. Man city’s squad looks very solid and could go far in the competition.

Juventus last won the Champions League in 1996 and are in a strong position to win it again this season. They made the final two out of the last four seasons where they lost to Barcelona and Real Madrid both times. Now with the addition of Ronaldo to their team, it makes them one of the favorites in the competition.
