World Cup stars return to Man City training

Manchester City returned back in England from the US Tour, with only five days to go before their season really starts. Pep Guardiola is really happy with what he has seen during the US Tour, especially from the youngsters he brought to the United States. The youngsters and all the other players that went to the States are reunited with their teammates that reached the final stages of the World Cup in Russia this summer.

The likes of Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany, Fabian Delph, Fernandinho and many other big stars returned to training at the Etihad Campus yesterday. They had a few weeks off since their exhausting last season, which ended in the World Cup final weekend for some of them. Now it’s up to the staff to get these players up to speed before the start of the new season. It’s very unlikely that these players will play in the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday. This match will probably be the chance for the youngsters that impressed Guardiola during preseason, to show they can do the same in an official match.

Start of the Premier League

After three weeks of rest, players need time to get back in shape. The start of the Premier League is in two weeks, so it’s questionable if all the World Cup stars will play in the first Premier League match of this season. It can be very costly if they aren’t ready, since Man City plays against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in the first game week. Unai Emery’s team hardly has any World Cup stars, so they are well-prepared for the start of the season. But this is something to worry about after this weekend, first they need to do everything they can to try and win the Community Shield.
