History of Manchester United

The Carriage and Wagon department of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway depot at Newton Heath formed Newton Heath LYR Football Club in 1878. In 1880 the team competed in their first recorded match. By 1888 the club had become a founding member of a regional football league called The Combination. With debts of £2,670 the club was served with a winding-up order. Four local businessmen were willing to invest £500 each, in return for a direct interest in running the club and who subsequently changed the name into Manchester United. The 1907-1908 season was the first time they won a big championship (First Division).

Manchester United has the highest attendance in the Premier League. MUFC tickets are therefore very hard to find. The average attendance last season was over 75,000 per match. Over the last 20 years the average was almost 69,000 per match. The last five years the average attendance was always around 75,000. This makes Manchester United one of the most interesting for buying football tickets. A crowded Old Trafford is an experience every Man United needs to experience at least once in his life. Rivalry

Manchester United is one of the most famous and successful teams in the Premier League. Every big team has always some big rivals. Celtic has Glasgow Rangers, Galatasaray has Fenerbahce, Barcelona has Real Madrid and Manchester United has several rivals. Of course their neighbours Manchester City. The Manchester Derby is always a special match which divides the city in two parts. One part is red, one part is blue. The rivalry between these two teams is higher by Manchester City than by Man United. Man United was always the bigger club of the two so there was more jealousy at the Citizens. United fans still considering City as a small club with much less history and therefore not their biggest rivals.

Arsenal is another big rival of Manchester United. The rivalry between these two teams was the highest during the 90’s and early 00’s. Every football fan can remember the battles between Patrick Vieira and Roy Keane. The fights between these top players started in the tunnel before the match even started. Manchester United Humiliated Arsenal in 2011 with an 8-2 victory. This result represented Arsenal’s worst defeat since 1896.

There is only one serious rival according to the Man United fans: Liverpool Fc. The match between Manchester United and Liverpool (Also known as: North-West Derby) is considered one of the biggest rivalries in football. Both teams are about 35 miles apart. The rivalry between these two teams has been fuelled by the proximity of the two major cities Liverpool and Manchester, combined with significant periods of domestic footballing dominance. This huge rivalry prevents the teams from buying each other’s players. Phil Chisnall was the last player to transfer between Manchester United and Liverpool in 1964. Manchester United 2017-2018

This means United haven’t won the Premier League since 2012-2013. This is a very long time for a big club like Man United. The club’s board decided they needed the services of one of the most successful managers of this era. Jose Mourinho was appointed as new manager. The Portuguese manager needs to bring the Red Devils back to the top of the Premier League table. Mourinho brought some of the world’s finest players to Old Trafford. Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba are two players who should be able to make a difference in the league. United’s squad is the perfect mix of superstars with young talents. Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial are young talented players who are able to decide matches. Behind all these players there is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. David de Gea worked his way up to the top and is really important for his team. This combination makes Manchester United one of the favourites to win the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League. Jose Mourinho is a very important factor in this season. Somehow he always manages to win the title in the second season he is working for a club. This is his second season at Old Trafford and he looks a serious contender for the title. It's going to be a very interesting battle between Man United and Man City. This should be their year, so don't hesitate any longer and book your Man United tickets securely online.
