AZ or Alkmaar Zaanstreek is a member of KNVB, Koninklijke Nederlandse Voetbalor Bond or Royal Netherlands Football Association and competes in The KNVB Cup or Dutch Cup tournament competition as well as the European Cup and UEFA Cup. AZ is a member of the Eredivisie or Honorary Division - the top tier Netherlands football league. AZ Alkmaar competes at their home stadium, DSB Stadion, located in Alkmaar. AZ is the current Dutch Eredivisie champions. AZ also won the Eredivisie championship in 1981 and was runners-up in 1980 and 2006. AZ won the Eerst Divisie in 1996 and 1998. They were runners-up in the 1981 UEFA Cup. AZ won the KNVB Cup in 1978, 1981, and 1982 and were runners-up in 2007.
