Reggina Calcio, nicknamed Amaranto (Dark-reds), are the main football club in (Reggio Calabria) Calabria in Italy. Reggina was founded in 1914 named as U.S. Reggio Calabria and changed to their current name Reggina Calcio in 1986. Regina Calcio has been going back and forth between Serie B and Serie A which are both top levels of the Italian football league system. With great ambition, Reggina first started competing in Serie A in 1999 but were beaten in their finals against Verona which lowered them again to the Second Division Serie B. During the 2002 season, Reggina accomplished to finish 3rd in Serie B which gained their return to the top level Serie A. Presently, Reggina competes in Serie A and hold their home games at the Oreste Granillo stadium with a capacity of 27,763 seats.
