Premiership: Liverpool 3-2 Man City | Swansea 0-1 Chelsea

Liverpool 3-2 Manchester City

Liverpool beat 3-2 defending champions Manchester City in a thrilling Premier League match played at Anfield Road yesterday.

The Reds started brightly and went ahead 2-0 at half time thanks to goals from Raheem Sterling and Martin Skrtel.

Sterling collected Suarez through ball and sent everyone to the wrong side, including Joe Hart, with an excellent footwork inside the area before finishing from close range with just 6 minutes on the clock.

Skrtel doubled the lead in the 26th with a powerful header following a Steven Gerrard corner from the right side.

The Citizens came back stronger after the break with David Silva scoring a tap-in from substitute James Milner's cross in the 57th.

City levelled the game 5 minutes later as the Spain International was involved again when his shot took a deflection off Johnson before finding the back of the net.

Chances came at both ends as the teams looked for a winner in the final stages and eventually the host found the 3rd goal.

Coutinho finished with a curling ball into the bottom corner following Kompany’s poor clearance in the 78th minute.

Liverpool held on until the final whistle with Jordan Henderson being sent off at stoppage time for a dangerous challenge on Nasri.

With this victory the Reds ensured the tittle crown depends exclusively on their results as they now top the table with 77 points and 34 games played, two more than Man City who sits 3rd on 70 points.

Swansea City 0-1 Chelsea

Chelsea beat 10-man Swansea City to remain 2 points adrift Premier League leaders Liverpool as Demba Ba scored the only goal of the match played yesterday at the Liberty Stadium.

Swansea defender Chico Flores was booked twice inside 120 seconds and left his side fighting with 10 men early in the first half.

The Blues could not make the advantage count for rest of the period as both teams went down the tunnel goalless at half time.

However Chelsea found the net midway through the second half when Nemanja Matic drove the ball to Demba Ba in a quick counterattack and the Senegal striker fired past goalkeeper Michel Vorm to give the Blues a vital victory.
