Man Utd 3-0 Olympiakos (3-2) | Dortmund 1-2 Zenit (5-4)

Manchester United 3-0 Olympiakos (Agg 3-2)

Manchester United produced an epic comeback yesterday as Robin Van Persie scored a hat-trick against Olympiakos to send the Red Devils into the Champions League Quarter-Finals and ease the pressure on his manager, David Moyes.

United had lost the first leg by 2-0 a fortnight ago and coming from a painful defeat to Liverpool over the weekend many suggested Moyes days at Old Trafford were about to end.

Already eliminated from the FA Cup and 7th placed in the Premier League table, winning the UEFA Champions League seems to be the only chance Man Utd have left not just to win some trophy this season but also to secure European participation next year.

Van Persie scored from the penalty spot in the 25th minute after a foul by Jose Holebas and right before half-time he added the second when Rooney crossed the ball from the right side of the box and found the Dutch international who netted from close range.

The tie was levelled on aggregate when the second half kicked off but it only took 6 minutes for Van Persie to complete his hat-trick as he curled a free kick past the wall and into the net to send United into the last eight.

Borussia Dortmund 1-2 FC Zenit (Agg 5-4)

Borussia Dortmund qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals despite losing 2-1 to FC Zenit at the Signal Iduna Park last night.

The 4-2 victory achieved by the Germans in Saint Petersburg last month was enough to see them go through.

Hulk opened the scoring in the 16th for the Russians with a powerful shot but Sebastian Kehl levelled the game before half-time.

Substitute Jose Rondon restored the lead for FC Zenit with a header in the 73rd but Dortmund held on to progress into the next round with the 5-4 aggregate win.

Last year runners-up will be without Robert Lewandowski in the first leg of the last eight as he picked up his third yellow card of the competition after handling the ball.
