Football in Greece reached its peak, in terms of the quality of the game, with the national side winning UEFA Euro 2004 title. It was only their second outing in the tournament and they surprised many under the coaching of Jose Mourinho. Greece occupies 10th place in the recently released FIFA World Cup ranking. The highest professional football league is known as Superleague Greece in which 18 teams participate each season. The Athens based teams Olympiacos, Panathinaikos and AEK Athens are the dominant ones closely followed by PAOK, Larissa and Aris. Olympiacos won forty league titles to this date. At European stage these clubs show an admiring consistency in performance. Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium is the venue where most of the international matches are played.
