The beautiful Scottish city of Inverness is well known for its love of football. Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC, fondly called Caley Thistle, was founded here in 1994. In 2013 - '14 the club won the Scottish Challenge Cup. It is an additional incentive for fans who buy Inverness football tickets and cheer for the club from the stands. The club won Scottish Cup twice in past beating Celtic in 2000 and 2003. Football matches in Inverness take place in the home stadium of the club, Caledonian Stadium. It is located in the Longman area. The stadium was inaugurated in 1996 and currently can accommodate 7,800 football fans on a match day. The first match played here was between Caley Thistle and Albion Rovers which ended in a draw with one goal scored by each side.
